Lieme Ganguly
Self taught artist. Her journey of visual arts started during her childhood days when she started participating every year in All Bengal Child Art Contest encouraged and inspired by her art teachers at school. The inspiration of her pattern comes indirectly through fabrics/nature and other elements in our modern life representing the form of abstract art. Her passion for art/paintings and everything is derived from both Indian/Western art and culture. Freestyle spirit is charecterised by a play on bold geometric patterns and bright colours. She is a modern visual artist experimenting with mediums like paper | canvas | glass painting | collage | water colours | oil painting | calligraphy | linograph | print making | wash techniques | copy painting | sculptures and various other creative art works.
She has been experimenting a lot with layouts/creative works and abstract art for a few years being a part of her personal projects and exhibitions. Abstraction has been explored and expressed by artists in a plethora of ways. Pulling away from literal and representational art, abstract art is an escape from reality and is vastly open to interpretation. Although she introduces herself as a self taught artist she was trained and guided by various eminent artists and studied history of Indian | Western art before she started to participate for exhibitions. Her research and art works background reveals its influence through geometrical patterns colourful spaces | lines and utilizing visual vibrant contrast and mostly geometrical layouts.
